Jamoma's Umbrella

Over the last 6 months a number of issues surrounding Jamoma, its various aspects, sub-projects, co-projects, governance, and other matters have been receiving some attention. Jamoma, as both a platform and as collective, has been growing steadily, and a growing need for structuring the project(s) has been realized.

This means that we are now viewing “Jamoma” as an umbrella project under which a number of other initiatives are organized. These projects can themselves be fairly autonomous. For example, the DSP library has no dependencies on the Modular Framework for Max and can be used entirely on its own.

To celebrate our new found structure, a set of new provisional icons have been created to represent the ‘super-project’ (Jamoma) and its various component projects.

There are some additional projects which share some resources or overlap with Jamoma. For example, both SpatDIF and GDIF have significant representation in Jamoma. The relationships between these projects and Jamoma have not been formalized in anyway, and at this juncture there isn’t a strong need to formalize them.

The concrete is not dry on all of this, and our thinking is still a bit fluid about it. But I think that it’s starting to make some sense… The most dramatic change is that the library formally known as TTBlue is now the Jamoma DSP Library.
